Crested Cranes Head coach George William Lutalo says that the 4-0 loss to U20 Women’s National Team in a practice match gave them a good challenge.
This was the second game between the two sides. The first came on Tuesday with Crested Cranes winning 1-0.
A hat-trick from U20 Women National Team skipper Fauzia Najjemba and one goal from midfielder Shamirah Nalugya handed handed Lutalo’s side a 4-0 loss on Friday at Njeru.
The Crested Cranes are in preparations for the forthcoming COSAFA Women’s Championship slated to take place between 28th September to 9th October in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Speaking after the game, Lutalo was to quick to admit that the game was as good challenge to his side.
“First I want to thank the U20 team they had a good game and it was a challenge to us which is very good. It has given us where to start from so we hope to improve where we have not done well,” Lutalo said.
In a game they were second best on the day, Lutalo is optimistic his players will improve as quick as possible:
“We didn’t play together as a team and even our character was not the best that we expect from a national side. But it is easier with the attitude of the players, they will improve as quickly as possible.”
As the days are fast approaching to the Cosafa tournament, the head says they will need to work more on developing Player’s attitude.
“We shall look at developing their attitude, it’s all about the attitude that they require at the moment.”
It has been understood that the two teams will face off in the third and practice game on Monday.
With the loss to U20 Women’s National Team, Lutalo’s charges were indeed handed a good test as they gear up for the final tournament in South.
At the COSAFA tournament, Created Cranes are dipped in group C alongside Zambia, Namibia and Eswatini.
