The reigning UPL champions Express FC have confirmed the acquisition of Ugandan midfield and defense duo of Nicholas Kasozi and Deus Bukenya from Kyetume FC and Botswana outfit Prisions XI respectively.
The two midfield maestros join the Red Eagles in a bid to intensify the club’s preparations for the upcoming CAF Champions League qualifiers Preliminary round fixtures.
Kasozi joins switches to Wankurukuku on a season-long loan from Kyetume FC according to the the club has announced. It is important to remember that this website reported about the matter in the earlier weeks.
The vastly experienced Bukenya, on the other hand joins on a one-year deal as a free agent following the expiration of his employment contract with the Botswana side.
Express who recently won this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup, are making arrangements for the first leg of their preliminary round fixture against Al-Merrikh of Sudan in the CAF Champions League Qualifiers.
The game takes centre stage this side Friday 10th September at the St. Mary’s stadium Kitende before the Red Eagles opt get to visit Khartoum a week later.
It is therefore not shocking that Waswa Bbosa’s side has added the incredible talent and experience of Kasozi whose role will be augmenting Mahad Yaya Kakooza who has currently monopolized the anchorman role.
Unlike Kakooza though, Kasozi has the ability to initiate the team’s offense while providing the necessary balance in terms of the defense. Express FC will gain a lot from the move if the gets to settle and not run around like he has proverbially become known to do.
The Red Eagles didn’t struggle much in terms of their defensive display courtesy of the bromance of Murushid Jjuuko and Issma Lumu. The move to bring in Bukenya will be definitely be looked at as beefing up the squad in terms of intensity.
