Women U20: Ayub Khalifa New Coach, Summons Squad For World Cup Qualifiers

Ayub Khalifa has been named the new coach of Uganda U20 Women national team, FUFA has confirmed.

Khalifa has been elevated from the Women U17 team where he was appointed in 2019.

During that spell, he went on to lift the U17 COSAFA and CECAFA trophies in 2019 which were staged in Uganda and Mauritius respectively.

He doubles as the coach for Kawempe Muslim, team that plays in the Uganda Women Super League.

At Kawempe, he won four straight league trophies in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The tactician replaces Olivier Mbekeka who becomes his assistant.

Mubarak Kiberu who has served at the U17 Boys Natioanal Team (The Cubs) as goalkeeping coach has been appointed to serve in the same capacity on the U20 Women National Team, FUFA has announced.

Stella Nankuba and Cissy Nakiguba will serve as the Team Doctor and Equipment Manager respectively.

That technical team has served a provisional squad for the upcoming 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup Qualifiers due this month.

Uganda will face Kenya with fixtures scheduled for 23rd -25th September 2021 (First leg) and 7th -9th October 2021 (Second Leg).
