Uganda Settle For Bronze Medals at Africa U19 Badminton Championship

Uganda has settled for three bronze medals in the ongoing All Africa U19 badminton championships hosted in Porto-Novo Benin.

This comes after all Ugandan players that took to action on Wednesday morning (September 1st) at the semi-finals stage of the tournament lost their respective games to settle for the third place finishes.

Trace Naluwooza lost in the women Singles while a duo of Fadilah Shamika and Tracy Naluwooza lost in the Women doubles.

The male duo of Emuddu Expedito and Makande Paul lost in the Men’s doubles to climax an unfortunate evening for Team Uganda at this coveted tournament.

Meanwhile, Team Uganda had earlier won a bronze medal at the team event after losing their semi-final game against South Africa (3-1) and settled for yet another bronze medal.

The last time Uganda participated in the All Africa U19 games was in 2016, Casablanca Morocco, and while at this tournament, a Ugandan duo of Senono Davis and Kasirye Brian won Bronze Medal in Men Double.

This year’s edition of the All African U19 Badminton Championships attracted a total of 13 countries including Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda among others.

The country was represented by seven athletes including: Expedito Emuddu, Paul Makande, Abedi Musa Bukenya, Abdul Swablu Sempiri, Guna Kusal, Tracy Naluwooza and Fadilah Shamikah.
