• Lady Doves (Uganda) Vs Simba Queens (Tanzania) @4:00pm. Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi Kenya
Uganda’s sole representatives at the inaugural CAF Women Champions League Cecafa Zonal Qualifiers, Lady Doves, will be aiming to seal a semi-final spot when they lockhorns with Tanzanian side Simba Queens in their second Group stage game at the tournament.
Earlier, the Lady Doves dismantled Djibouti side FAD FC in a mouthwatering 5-0 victory thanks to goals from Fazila Ikwaput (who scored a brace), Reticia Nabbosa, Norah Alupo and an own goal from Hibo Abdi Abdillah.
The Simba Queens on the other hand put away Burundi’s side PVP FC in close to a similar scoreline but the difference being that they conceded a goal. The came eventually ending 4-1 in favour of the Tanzanian side.
The game therefore promises to be a highly contested affair given the offensive prowess of both sides. The two will be battling to monopolize the top spot on the summit of the group.
Speaking after their last training on Monday, Lady Doves Captain Daisy Nakaziro anticipated a tough contest but remained optimistic about their chances to get the required result.
“It’s a hard game and a very competitive one at that. We need to give our all and offer one hundred percent on the pitch.” She stated.
“Tomorrow’s game means a lot especially regarding who will top the group and for us as players, offering our best to get maximum points and following the instructions from the coaches to the latter is guaranteed.” She added.
Victory will indeed seal “The Believers” place in the semi-finals of the tournament but also ultimately confirm their grip on the summit as they await for the final group stage game against Burundi’s PVP FC.
The Group games will end on 3rd September with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Semi Finals.
