Women Zonal Qualifiers: Lady Doves eye perfect start against FAD FC

Uganda’s sole representative at the inaugural CAF women Champions League Cecafa Zonal Qualifiers, Lady Doves, will be seeking to get off the mark against Djibouti’s FAD FC.

The two sides will be in action in the opening game of the tournament that will take place on Saturday at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.

Ahead of the opener, Fred Musiime, the head coach for the Believers had this to say:

“The girls are in good shape and ready for the first game. We expect to win since it’s the opening game and the kick off time being early is not a problem for us since we are used.”

A total of eight teams will take part in these regional qualifiers in a setup that will see two groups accomodate four teams.

The are Lady Doves (Uganda), PVP FC (Burundi), Vihiga Queens (Kenya), FAD FC (Djibouti), Simba Queens (Tanzania), New Generation (Zanzibar), Commercial Bank (Ethiopia) and Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan).

The Lady Doves have been pitted in group A alongside PVP FC, FAD FC and Simba Queens.

Group B is made up of New Generation, Yei Join Stars, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and Vihiga Queens.

The Two top teams from each group will storm the semi finals in the tournament and the eventual winners will qualify to the inaugural CAF women Champions league to be held in Egypt later this year.
