Uganda Premier League side Soltilo Bright Stars have confirmed the signing of Japanese midfielder Kazuto Kushida on a two year employment contract that will keep at the club till 2023.
The confirmation was made via the club’s official website and social media platforms on a Wednesday morning (August 25th).
Kushida joins the Matugga based side from Thailand league 1 team Chonburi FC as a free agent following the expiry of his employment contract.
Upon his unveiling, Bright Stars head Coach Baker Mbowa didn’t need an invitation to shower praise and wax lyrical about his intelligence as a player.
“Kazuto is a very intelligent player with a good passing range but also versatility in midfield. He will be a good addition for us especially regarding how we want to play as a team.” Mbowa highlighted.
“The player has been training with the club prior to this confirmation and therefore can’t wait to get started on what we believe will be a great experience for him Uganda.” he stated.

Kazuto is a central midfielder who was born in Kyoto, Japan. He has had an illustrious football career in three different countries which include: Australia, Thailand and Japan.
He has also previously featured for clubs like Sagawa Printing, Phanthog FC, Kyoto and recently at Chonburi FC. All these are found in both the Japanese topflight and second tier division.
In the process, Bright Stars have also lost some of their key players from the previous season including: Samuel Ssekamate and Joseph Akandwanaho who joined Arua Hill and Express FC respectively.
Veteran goalkeeper Godwin Buule is the latest name on the list of departures from the club.
