Four Dropped As Lady Cricket Cranes Enter Residential Camp

Four players have been dropped as Lady Cricket Cranes coach Suraj Karavadra trimmed squad ahead of the Cricket Global World Cup Qualifiers.

The dropped players are Carol Namugenyi, Gloria Obukor, Teddy Ayella and Leona Babirye.

The rest of team, 20 players, will enter residential camp to continue preparations for the Cricket Global World Cup Qualifiers due September 7th to 20th in Gaborone Botswana.

“We are going to a camp for three weeks before leaving for Botswana and the reason is that we dont want a repeat of what happened with Rwanda,” said coach Suraj Karavadra.

“We shall use the three weeks to get the girls playing together and use more of the centre wicket. We have our sports psycologist (Edgar Kazibwe) with us for this period and it will be important that we keep the whole group in a good space before we travel to Botswana.”

The Lady Cricket Cranes will battle with 10 other teams for the one African slot to the next round.

A squad of 24 started preparations two weeks ago and the final squad of 14 will be named before departure.

The team will be camped at Hawaii Resort in Kawuku Entebbe until they leave for the tournament in early September, Uganda Cricket Association media has confirmed.
