URA FC are reportedly in pursuit of forward Joel Madondo as the Uganda Premier League side intensifies efforts to add firepower to their ranks.
Talks between the player’s representatives and the club are said to be taking significant strides with a proposed deal in the hoffing.
The former Busoga United prodigy signed a short deal with Big League side Gaddafi FC following his disappointing spell at Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
Madondo, 22, had signed a three-year-contract in Morocco following his contentious move from Busoga United.
He may however return to dine in the upper echelons of Uganda Premier League, with URA FC the most likely destination according to reliable sources.
The Tax Collectors have identified the forward as a player who will add a lot of experience and skill to their front line as they seek to compete favourably at all fronts.
While the club has two proven goal scorers in the shape of Steven Mukwala and Cromwell Rwothomio, the latter’s injury record has given the side food for thought.
Signed from Paidha Black Angels two seasons ago, Rwothomio has proved to be a prolific goal getter but a terrible luck with injuries has seen him spend most time in the treatment room.
Madondo has rightfully emerged as the player to paper over the cracks in the striking department.
The Tax Collectors will represent Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup and will be seeking to better their second place they managed to make in the 2020-21 UPL season.
They are further said to have ignited talks with defender and free agent Geoffrey Wasswa in the bid to sign the former Vipers SC defender.
