Uganda’s middle distance runner Winnie Nanyondo has qualified to the Women’s 1500m final at the ongoing Olympics in Tokyo.
Nanyondo came fourth with a time of 4:01.64 behind winner Siffan Hassan, Laura Muir and Linden Hall in that order in heat two.
Its a big achievement and sign of resilience for Nanyondo who failed at this stage in the Women’s 800m.
The final will be staged this Friday at 3:50pm.

The first five in each of the two semis and the next two across both heats have qualified to the final.
Nanyondo who holds the National record at the distance – 3:59.56 – which she set in Rabat, will be targeting a place on the podium come Friday.
She ran a good race and kept her self in the leading pack from start.

Nanyondo, joyously celebrated her triumph with dance moves on track after seeing her name appear in the first five on the screen inside the stadium.
