Uganda vs Tanzania
Uganda Kobs Head Coach Morley Byekwaso has revealed that his charges are ready and well drilled for their game against Tanzania.
Uganda U23 drew goalless in their opening game in the CECAFA tournament on Saturday with guests DR Congo. Tanzania then defeated DR Congo 1-0 on Wednesday.
Speaking after the training session ahead of the do-or-die encounter with Tanzania on Saturday, Morley Byekwaso said they had a successful training and the players are well determined and prepared.
“Our second last training before the last match was successful,” he stated.
“The boys fought hard in training determination is high generally the urge and willingness is high.”
This will be Uganda Kobs last game in the group after a goalless opener and Uganda need a win in order to top the group.
“Because this is our last game in the group we need to do anything possible to win the game and top the group.”
Tanzania overcame DR Congo 1-0 in their first game and they need just a draw to seal the top spot.
“Tanzania is a good side we watched them playing yesterday there game is good they pass the ball they dont fear.”
The KCCA Head Coach says that they will cope up with Tanzania strength and utilise their weaknesses in the full back positions.
“But we shall see that we apply a speedy game to make sure that we cross the ball and penetrating them on the final third which they have a problem in the number 2 and 3 but upfront they are also good they run and they do everything.”
Byekwaso concedes that it will be a must win that will require fighting till the end to win the match.
“So I think the game will be a do or die because Tanzania wants to qualify they have three points so we shall also commit ourselves to fight and win the game so that we win the group, so once we don’t win tomorrow we are out.”
The CECAFA U23 Challenge Cup is hosted by Ethiopia in Bahir Dar from 17th July to to 31st July. Uganda is the defending champions having won it in 2019.
