Tanzania mainland giants Simba SC are chasing the signature of Uganda Cranes captain Emmanuel Okwi, The-SportsNation has learnt.
Okwi is out of contract at Ittihad of Alexandria and has reportedly gone AWOL at the Egyptian Premier League side.
Ittihad of Alexandria’s President Mohamed Moselhy earlier said that Okwi left the club without permission.
He has emerged as a Simba SC target as the club seeks to assemble a strong cast for CAF Champions League next season.
They were knocked out by Kaizer Chiefs 4-3 in aggregate at the Quarter Final stage this season.
He has played for Simba under three spells; he joined in 2010 from SC Villa before leaving foe Etoile Du Sahel three years later.
He returned in the 2014/15 season and had another spell at the club between 2017-2019.
If he joins Simba, he will reunite with fellow Cranes player Taddeo Lwanga.
Okwi is a darling at Simba and is said to be in close contact with some players at the club including John Bocco.
