Lady Doves Coach Rajab Buyinza has retaliated his side’s readiness ahead of the forthcoming CECAFA women Zonal Qualifiers in Kenya.
The Believers made it to the tournament by virtue of being FUFA Women Super League Champions and will be Uganda’s sole representatives at the inaugural Championship.
The championship will kickoff on July 17 to August 1 in Kenya, hosted by Vihiga Queens.
On Thursday July 8th, the Masindi based outfit learnt their fate as they were pitted in group A alongside Tanzania’s Simba Queens and PVP FC of Burundi.
And gaffer Rajab says they are prepared for the task ahead as they resumed training two weeks ago.
“We are prepared as we resumed training last week in Masindi and this is our second week as we gear up for the tournament”, He told the Sports Nation.
In a group that promises to have strong competitors, as they come as champions from their respective countries, Buyinza was quick to admit the enonmous task that awaits his charges.
However, he reckons that they will approach every game like a final.
“All our opponents are strong sides. It gives us competition because you can’t undermine them, every game is a final. You have to treat every game as a final, because when you relax you go out.”
For starters, each of the Caf zones including Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) will send a team to the finals in Egypt. Two other teams will be added including the host nation to make it eight.
The finalists will be grouped in two groups consisting of four teams for the maiden Competition to be held in Egypt.
If they qualify to the final tournament in Egypt, Lady Doves will be the first Uganda team to represent the country in the inaugural CAF Women Champions league.
