CAF CL: Al Ahly Hammer Esperance To Set Up Kaizer Chiefs Final

Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly will face off with South African side Kaizer Chiefs in this year’s CAF Champions League final in July 17 at Stade Mohammed in Casablanca.

Al Ahly thrashed Tunisian giants Esperance 3-0 on Saturday at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo on Saturday.

Ali Maaloul, Mohamed Sherif and Hussein El Shahat dagered Esperance who had Ilyes Chetti sent off in the 36th minute when the game was still goalless.

“I am very happy to reach the final, we gave presented levels that have helped us reach here, this is a great club and we want to win the Champions league again,” Mosimane told the Club website.

“I have great respect for Esperance and other clubs but Al Ahly remains a great club with big history. We deserve to be here. We are one step away from a 10th title.

“Kaizer Chiefs is a good club with a huge fan base. We need to study the club well ahead of the final.”

Kaizer Chiefs qualified to their first final earlier in the day thanks to a goalless draw against Wydad Casablanca at FNB Stadium.

The Glamour Boys had won the first leg on the road 1-0 thanks to a Samir Nurkovic goal.
