Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has confirmed the indefinite suspension of the 2020/21 football season due to the ongoing pandemic.
The StarTimes Uganda Premier League, Big League Playoffs and Stanbic Uganda Cup have all been suspended.
FUFA says that the matches will resume at new dates after “obtaining the necessary clearance from Government.”
This is the latest development after Government announced a second lockdown due to an upsurge in Covid19 cases.
An earlier circular from the Federation had only postponed last week matchday 27 games.
FUFA remains confident that the league will have a natural ending but are still contemplating on enforcing a force majeure clause and award Express FC the league title.
The Big League playoffs were due June 27-29 at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru while the Uganda Cup was awaiting semifinal draws after Express, Vipers, BUL and Police had skipped quarterfinal hurdles.
