KCCA FC midfielder Andrew Kawooya is over the moon after scoring his first goal for his club.
The midfielder was on the score sheet for the first time at his club, as the Kasasiro Boys earned a 6-2 victory against relegated side Kitara FC on Friday.
Forward Sam Senyonjo struck four goals while Charles Lwanga scored the other.
Despite Ssenyonjo making headlines on the day, for Kawooya it was a day to remember on his side after getting off the mark with his first at the club.
Speaking after the game, Kawooya was quick to express his happiness after the final whistle.
“I’m happy for the chance granted to start this game and happy to score my first goal for the club.”
Having made his debut in May this season, after coming off the bench against Busoga United, it was Kawooya’s second appearance, in a season he has been out due to injuries and contract hurdles since joining from Vipers.
Scoring a first goal at a club brings confidence to any player, something Kawooya admits.
“This goal means a lot to me because it gives me confidence and to work harder so that i can be a regular starter.”
After scoring his first goal for the club, the teenager is still ambitious to keep on scoring till the end of the season.
“Every time, I keep on improving in every game when given a chance, so that by the end of the season, I have more goals.
Kawooya was part of the Uganda Hippos team that finished as runners up in the AFCON U20 tournament held in Mauritania this year.
With his passing abilities, knowledge on the ball, Kawooya’s talent is undoubted and he is one for the future in Ugandan football.
