It was tense evening from the Rwenzori group on Sunday as the FUFA Big League season concluded.

Two teams from the group had a chance to earn automatic qualification to the Uganda Premier League.

Heading into the final games, Proline needed only victory, and prayed that Tooro United dropped points in their last game, something that didn’t go as expected.

Tooro United registered a 1-0 win against Kigezi Home Boyz, and it meant that Proline and Nyamityobora earned play offs slots from the Rwenzori group.

Proline finished Second in the group with 29 points while Nyamityobora FC finished third on 24 points.

Against a Water FC side that was also battling to avoid the drop, the Anthony Bongole side knew it was not going to be an easy side to take lightly.

They needed second half goals from Diego Hamisi Kizza, Hamza Mulambuzi and Alpha ‘Thierry’ Ssali to overcome a resilient side.

Kasujja Tonny scored for the visitors what turned out to be a consolation on the day.

Proline’s best chance before the break, came at the stroke of half time but Mato Rogers missed with just a keeper to beat.

Goalless it was at the break as the two sides created few scoring opportunities.

With two minutes into the second half, Kiiza broke the deadlock, tapping in off Mato Rogers cross.

In search to kill off the game, Proline continued to pile more pressure onto the visitors and it looked they could double the lead at any time.

With 18 minutes to play, Mulambuzi doubled the lead for his side before Kasujja pulled one back for the Visitors to half the deficit, scoring from from the spot.

In added time, second half substitute Alpha made it three for his side to put the game to bed, also scoring from the spot.

Despite losing on the day, the result meant that Water FC survived relegation having finished fifth with 14 points.
