The Uganda National Men’s Beach Soccer team, the Sand Cranes lost 5-1 to Senegal in their opening game of the 2021 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Saly, on Sunday May 23.
Uganda, who are appearing in their maiden appearance at the tournament were dominated by the rampant hosts and look very much like a side that were making their debut appearance at the finals.
Royal Mendy and Babacus Fah each scored a brace in the game with Ninou Diatta scoring the other to ensure that hosts got off to a perfect start.
Isma Kawawulo struck the only goal for the Sand Cranes on a day that they will need to forget quickly and get their campaign back on track.
Uganda is drawn in group A alongside hosts Senegal and Tanzania with the other team, Dr. Congo having withdrawn from the tournament.
Uganda returns to action on Monday 24th, in their final group fixture against Tanzania.
