Preview: Can Express Break Jinja Jinx?

Express have never beaten Busoga United on the road since winning 2-1 in the 2016/17 season.

They lost 2-0 last season at the Mighty Arena, conceding second half goals from Ivan Wani and Boban Zirintusa.

It should be noted that Busoga United beat Express home and away last season. Now is the time for Express to take their revenge?

The Red Eagles won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Wankulukuku with Frank Kalanda scoring the only goal of the game from the spot.

Revenge aside, Express are chasing more than that – League title.

The Red Eagles beat UPDF FC 1-0 thanks to Eric Kambale and coach Wasswa Bbosa is expected to follow an old adage – Never change a winning lineup.

They have won five in a row in the league and are strong candidates for the championship as they sit two points behind leaders URA FC who will not be in action until Wednesday.

They will be banking on forward Kambale but its the ability to close out opponents that has brought Express this far. They have the tightest defence in the league, they have conceded only 13 goals, and have four clean sheets in their last five games!

Busoga United are winless in their last four games and have shipped in at least a goal in last three games.

It remains to be seen if the defence, led by former Express player Shafic Nana Kakeeto can stop Express attack of Kambale, Godfrey Lwesibawa and the explosive Martin Kizza.

Busoga United sit six points above relegation zone and coach Abbey Kikomeko knows it very well that the job is far from done given the manner in which they lost 3-0 to MYDA FC.

They were torn apart by Ibrahim Nsimbe who scored a hat-trick in Tororo but it was their attack that disappointed more – Sharif Kimbowa missed a penalty while Anthony Mayanja fluffed two keeper to beat chances.

The return of Ivan Wani and Isma Mugulusi is a big plus to their attacking force but Sharif Ssaka needs to find his scoring boots if they are to pick anything in this one.
