Quarterfinals First Leg
*MC Alger 1-1 Wydad
*Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 Simba
*CR Belouizdad 2-0 ES Tunis
*Al Ahly 2-0 Mamelodi Sundowns
Denis Onyango conceded twice as his side Mamelodi Sundowns lost their CAF Champions League quarterfinal first leg tie against Al Ahly.
Sundowns face a huge uphill task to overturn a 2-0 deficit after the nine-time record winners and defending champions Al Ahly took command at Al Salam Stadium on Saturday in Cairo.
Taher Mohamed and Salah Mohsen were on target to hand Pitso Mosimane a dream first leg advantage against his former pay masters.
Taher struck home past Onyango in the 23rd minute after receiving from Aliou Dieng and later in the second half, the Red Devils benefited from Onyango’s poor timing when he missed a long ball to allow Mohsen to chest and lash into the empty net.
Sundowns missed clear chances through Mosa Lebusa and Gift Motupa with both failing to beat goalkeeper Mohamed Elshenawy.
Onyango and Sundowns will seek to overturn the deficit when they welcome the Egyptian giants and Pitso at Lucas Moripe Stadium on May 22 as they target another prestigious continental title since 2016.
