Police FC 4-1 Kitara FC
Omondi Stadium, Lugogo
Tuesday, April 20
Police FC completed a league double over Kitara FC thanks to a 4-1 thrashing at Lugogo on Monday.
Having beaten the same side 5-0 earlier in the season, the Cops were rampant, scoring through Ben Ocen’s brace, Frank Tumwesigye and Hassan Muhamud.
Patrick Kusemererwa netted Kitara’s consolation on the day.
As early as the 3rd minute, Ocen pounced onto his own rebound to side-foot into an unguarded net.
The second came moments later as Ocen collected from Tumwesigye, rounded the stranded Ivan Akera before slotting into an empty net.
Police continued to press for another goal and it came on 19 minutes as Tumwesigye rose highest to node home Muwadda Mawejje’s well-weighted cross.
Nine minutes to the break, Muhamud took responsibility after Fahad Kizito was fouled outside the area, firing in from a free kick that deflected off the wall and into the back of the net.
Kitara looked more determined at the start of the second half and were rewarded on 53 minutes when Kusemererwa poked home from close range a Yubu Bogere low cross.
On a day that Police exerted maximum superiority on Kitara, they could have scored more but Kakooza, on countless occasions, failed to find the back of the net from decent positions, Muwadda shot over while inside the area while Ocen failed to beat Akera after he was set up by substitute Duncan Sseninde.
Sseninde should have seen his name on the score sheet but his effort, late in the game, went off the upright.
Kitara, much like it has been the case since the season started, struggled to create chances and will feel relieved they conceded just four.
The result sees Police move to 4th position 34 points, one ahead of KCCA FC who play away to Mbarara City on Wednesday.
For Kitara, they stay bottom of the standings with just five points from 19 games.
In their next fixtures, Police host MYDA FC on Saturday while Kitara are away to UPDF FC on the same day.
