Uganda Cup: Bobosi, Tezikya Back As Vipers Visit Busoga United

Vipers will welcome back midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga and striker Lawrence Tezikya for the trip to face Busoga United.

The Venoms lead the first leg 3-0 and will fancy their chances at Njeru as they target a place in the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The club has confirmed that Bobosi and Tezikya are set to be included in the matchday squad, with the latter in line to face his former team after missing the first leg at Kitende.

In related developments, midfielder David Bagoole who came on in the second half will miss the trip while Allan Kayiwa suffered a knock in training.

Asiku Bashir and Shaban Mohammad are still serving club suspension following alleged outbursts with coach Fred Kajoba.

Caesar Manzoki scored a brace and Ibrahim Orit was also on target as Vipers won 3-0 at Kitende in the first leg.

The hosts, if they are to cause an upset, will have to do it without youngsters Ismail Mugulusi and Edrine Opaala who will be at school for senior six briefing (UACE) while Sharif Kimbowa (hamstring), Ali Kimera (personal reasons) and Magero Franco Balabala (yellow cards) are also sidelined.

Busoga United welcome back Bernard Wamusi and Paul Ssekulima after missing the trip to Kitende.

This will be the second meeting between the sides at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru: Vipers won 5-3 at this venue in the league.

Geoffrey Wasswa, Milton Karisa, Karim Watambala and a Paul Mucureezi brace spurred the Venoms to victory while George Kasonko, Ismail Mugulusi and Paul Ssekulima were on target for the hosts.

Vipers have been knocked out by Paidha Black Angels (2017), KCCA (2018, Final), Proline (2019) and Kajjansi United (2020).

Busoga United were eliminated by Seeta United (2018), Onduparaka (2019) and Busia Young (2020) in past editions.

In the league, Vipers lead the log with 36 points while Busoga United are 12th with 17 points.

Winner on aggregate over two legs seal a place in round of 16.
