FUFA Big League: Ayiekoh Contented With Win Against Paidha

Maroons FC head coach Charles Ayiekoh says he was happy with the team’s performance against Paidha Black Angels on Thursday.

He however, encourages them to push up and work for top league promotion.

The Mbili Mbili nicknamed team thrashed Paidha 3- 1 in their first Big League of the season at Luzira prisons ground.

Belmos Opio ,Emma Olinga and Fred Amaku were all on the score sheet as the team registered it’s first win.

Khalid Odargiu pulled a consolation goal back for the visitors from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.

The win puts Maroons into second position with three points.

The 1968 and 1969 premier league champions got relagated last season together Tooro fc and Proline fc when the league ended prematurely due to Covid 19 pandemic.

“Am contented with the win but we still need to work hard as a team so as to achieve promotion. Ayieko said.

“My players played at 45 percentage because taking along period of time without active football, it takes them down though we had trial matches but they didn’t take them seriously.”

Before Thursday, Maroons last active football game was on 10th March 2020 against Kyetume in Stanbic Uganda Cup.

With a such long period of time without action, the coach says it is not easy but they utilized their chances and scored many goals .

“The opening game is always not easy because spending a year of resting without playing active football, you know what it means to footballers and that is why in the first half we scored once.

“There were a lot of gaps but in the second half we came up and utilized our chances and scored many goals.”

Maroons play Gaddafi away from home on Sunday at the Kyabazinga Stadium.
