Mbarara City and BUL FC shared spoils in a 1-1 draw in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played at the Kakyeka Stadium.

Bebe Swalik Ssegujja missed from the spot but later made amends to score the opener for the Ankole Lions.

However, the hosts lead was short lived after Simon Peter Oketch levelled matters for visiting BUL FC.

The Ankole Lions were welcoming back head coach Livingstone Mbabazi who was making a return to the club after ending his spell at Kyetume, as well as celebrating a century of top flight games.

Going into this fixture, Mbarara City were however dealt with a huge blow after FUFA handed captain Hilary Mukundane and Stephen Othieno four-match bans for misconduct towards match officials against Onduparaka.

With eight minutes played in the game, Mbarara City missed a penalty thanks to a great save from BUL FC goalkeeper Abdul Kimera after Salim Huddu was fouled in the forbidden area.

Six minutes later, Bebe got the opener for the hosts with a powerful shot into the top left corner of the net.

Moments later, Oketch levelled matters heading in home at close range for the visitors after the home side failed to clear an aerial ball in defence.

After recess, there was nothing to write home about with both teams earning a point in their last game of the first round.

In the end, Bebe was named the pilsner man of the Match for his performance on the day.

Mbarara City end the first round in the 12th place with 14 points while Bul FC in Ninth with 20 points.
