We Lost To A Better Side – UPDF FC Assistant Kayondo

After losing their second game in a row, UPDF FC assistant coach Samuel Kayondo said they lost to a better side.

The Army side was thrashed 6-1 by a rampant KCCA FC on Friday, three days after they hand gone down to URA FC.

Sadat Anaku and Charles Lwanga scored a brace each while an own goal from Vuni Joseph and Ashraf Mugume gave KCCA FC that comfortable win that saw them climbed 4th on the table.

Forward Brian Kayanja scored the only goal for the visitors on the day, one that would prove to be just a consolation in the end.

Speaking after the game, Kayondo conceded KCCA were better than his side.

“The game has been tough and we lost in the end .Kayondo stated

“My team is okay but KCCA FC has been better on the day.”

When asked why his side conceded four times in the first 20 minutes, Kayondo says his side wasn’t ready for the playing surface.

“As a coach you don’t plan to concede in the first 20 or 15minutes but my boys were not yet ready for the turf in the first 20 minutes.

However, we went on developing after those 20 minutes and settled down.

UPDF have lost their last two games and Kadongo partly attributes that to fatigue.

“We have been poor of late partly because the schedule of the fixture is too tight.

“We have lost today and we are playing Tuesday so recovery time is very little.

Despite the poor run of form, Kayondo is optimistic UPDF is on course to achieving their mission.

“First and foremost our first mission is to stay in the league and our position on the table isn’t bad as per now.

“Three teams are in the drop zone and were are not one of them.”

After losing back to back UPDF FC dropped to 7th on the Log with 18points from 12 games.

The Kefa Kisala coached side returns to action on Tuesday when they host Express FC.
