Uganda Volleyball Federation has gone for a switch towards the amateurish local league as it opted to adopt the FIVB league calendar.
The bold move is aimed at changing the face of local volleyball from amateur set-up to a semi professional kind.
The decision was reached at the Annual General Meeting attended by delegates from the various Clubs, Schools and District Associations, the new Volleyball season will run from September of each year to April of the next year.
“One of the benefits of aligning the calendar is that, it will ensure that we have all our foreign based players for all our National team engagements in future since they will be in the official FIVB international engagement period.” Said Godwin Ssennyondo the UVF General Secretary.
Whilst, pertinent on the agenda, the financial year as also moved to begin from July of each year and end in June of the next year.
The next transfer window will open in May 2022 while the next AGM will happen in the first week of August 2022.
However, to make up for the missed transfer window of January 2021, the assembly agreed to have a special transfer season opened from March 15th to April 15th 2021.
