Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards crowned the best of February on Monday.
Uganda Hippos goalkeeper Jack Komakech (Football), Long distance runner Joshua Cheptegei (Athletics) and Husina Kobugabe (Badminton) were the winners in their respective categories.
Koma, in absentia, beat Hippos teammate Steven Sserwadda and Express forward George Ssenkaaba to best footballer for the concluded month.
Notably, Komakech saved a penalty in shootouts as Uganda Hippos marched on to the semis against Burkina Faso.
The Youngster was represented by his Mother and his academy president who commended Real Stars for awarding the top performers.
Cheptegei won the 15km Monaco Run and was crowned the best, beating Hosea Kiplagat and Peruth Chemutai to Real Stars gong.
In Badminton, the committee zeroed down on Kobugabe Husina who won two golds at the recently concluded International Badminton Tournament in Lugogo.
The little youngster edged Brian Kasirye and Fadilah Shamika to deservedly take the award.
Kobugabe said briefly: “It gives me confidence to win today, it forces me to work hard, I want to win more and encourage other people. I want to thank the sponsors for recognising our efforts. This is forcing me to work hard.
“I am looking forward to winning my best, I have to make sure that team Uganda wins in our next competition in South Africa.
“This is good because the work we are doing is being recognised.”
Fortebet Public Relations Officer John Nanyumba commented that they will continue sponsoring the awards as they move to support sports from grassroot.
The Awards head Isaac Mukasa said that the awards will become bigger as Sports nears full return in the country.
He commended the sponsors Fortebet, Jude Colour Solution and newcomers Canaan Sods drinks.
