It is understood that the UGX 400m will see Vipers decide on how to spend it as it is not attributed to a specific activity.

The two parties will also, now, have to undertake several CSR activities.

Plascon becomes the third sponsors of Vipers SC alongside Hima Cement and DFCU Bank. Vipers are also associated with Hard Ware world.

What they said at the event

Simon Ssekankya, Head Of Marketing Vipers SC

“Today we have achieved another milestone as Vipers SC.

“I welcome Plascon a big multi-national company that have agreed to join us. They are not new in Ugandan football as they once owned a club in the Uganda Premier League. They are also part of the sponsors of Man United so they are into the game.

“They are the leading manufacturers of paint in the world. We are a young club with lots of history and trophies and both leaders and defending champions of the league plus have the only CAF Certified stadium in Uganda so it was easy for them to choose us.

“We are also a well structured club so i would like to assure Plascon that they made a right choice.

“I urge everyone to support Plascon as they are the only paint manufacturers who have shown huge interest in Ugandan football.”

Moses Kato, National Sales Manager – Plascon

“Kansas Plascon partnered with Vipers because of their ambitions which are similar to ours.

“They have expressed alot of continental ambitions despite being young.

“We are by far the largest company in Uganda and also the largest in Pan-Africa and we have been around football in Uganda and will continue doing so.

“We have continuously held football tournaments up country ontop of having a football club at some point. We are excited to be here and hope to achieve a lot.”

Santosh Gunte, Plascon Managing Director

“We are very happy to be here. I would like to thank the president of Vipers and the entire team at Vipers for accepting to work with us.

“Vipers have been the leaders in football in Uganda for a while and we also have similar ambitions so that pulled us together.

“We are investing Ugx 400m for now but we will renew the partnership in the near future, that i am so sure of.”

Lawrence Mulidwa, President Vipers SC

“I would like to thank everyone who has made this possible and would also like thank Plascon for accepting to work with us.

“This is very important for the development of the game in this country. When we achieve at Vipers, everyone in Ugandan football achieves.

“When you look at the two brands, there is alot in common as we are all very ambitious and ready to achieve.

“People come here and try to do damage but that doesn’t stop us.

“This marriage is very historical in the development of football in Uganda as Plascon are know Internationally for supporting sport and they continue to support football at different levels.

“We feel so great associating with them because it is not easy to get someone like Plascon to come on board. We have always been selective on who to partner with because we have an image and brand to associate with.

“Our vision is to be number one in Africa and we are slowly moving towards that dream. As we talk now, Plascon is number one in Uganda as so is Vipers SC.

“Would like to thank everyone who has been involved to ensure that this comes to pass including ours and their marketing team.

“I would like to assure Plascon that they are not going to regret.

“I also feel relieved that now, others are helping me fund this club as it is a team sport and not just about an individual.”
