AFCON U20: Ssemakula Optimistic Ahead Of Tunisia Semi Final Clash

Uganda Hippos Defender Kenneth Ssemakula says they expect positive results in their semi final clash with North African giants Tunisia.

To reach this stage, Uganda Hippos who are making their maiden appearance at the tournament, stunned Burkina Faso 5-3 on penalties in the last eight.

Ssemakula scored the decisive kick to send the hippos into wild celebrations after Goal Keeper Jack Komakech had kept out Yacoub Djiga’s first penalty.

Derrick Kakooza, Joseph Bukenya, Najib Yiga and Ivan Bogere all scored their penalties.

Speaking after Saturday’s training at Cheikha Boidiya Stadium, Semakula says they are expecting positive results in the game.

“We are well prepared, we are ready for the semi finals and we hope for positive results. Ssemakula said.

“We are going to work hard so that we go up to the finals.

“We thank our fans back home for supporting us and we also pray that they continue doing so, we hope for the best in semi finals.”

The Hippos will battle Tunisia in the semi finals on Monday 1st March, 2021 at 10:00pm EAT.

To reach this stage, Tunisia eliminated Morocco thanks to a 4-1 victory in another penalty shootout.
