Zambia Reveal More Work For Hosts Cameroon

Zambia beat Cameroon 2-0 on the last day of the Pre-Chan mini tournament held in Yaounde.

Second half goals from Collins Sikombe and Zachariah Chilongoshi handed Zambia their first win of the four-nation tournament.

Zambia finish second behind Uganda Cranes while Niger are third as Cameroon are rooted at the bottom.

Sikombe scored in the 48th minute when he bundled home from close range for his third goal of the tournament, his first since a brace in the 3-3 draw with Niger.

Sikombe had a chance to double the lead but skewed wide from Paul Katema’s delivery. He was later taken off for Amity Shikombe in the 83rd minute.

Zacharia’s goal was a beauty, with the defender firing from outside the box to double the advantage at the hour-mark.

Micho’s Chipolopolo were good value for the win and could have scored earlier but Moses Phiri rattled the crossbar while Emmanuel Chabula also came close in the first half.

Cameroon got their chances but failed to find the back of the net to leave the side reeling with the CHAN finals about a week away.

The Intermediate Lions leave the Pre-Chan tourney with just one goal and as many points to their name, and have conceded five goals!

The hosts are set for another disappointing campaign having failed to come out of the group stages during the 2018 edition in Morocco.

They face Mali, Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe in Group A.

Zambia on the other hand, are in Group D alongside Guinea, Namibia and Tanzania. They have settled for Quarter final slots in each of their last two appearances but will seek for a better placement for the first time since finishing third in Cameroon.
