President Museveni has explained why security forces killed former Uganda National boxing team captain Isaac Zebra Mando Ssenyange.

Zebra was murdered on Tuesday night in cold blood at his home in Bwaise, Kawempe.

In his End of Year Message aired live on all media houses, Museveni confirmed that Mando was killed by the security forces he deployed in Kampala to fight crime.

“I was told that Zebra was training boxers who have been used to attack civilians and create havoc,” Museveni explained.

“However, after my inquiry, I also got to know that he was mobilizing for NRM.”

Museveni explained that he was to meet Zebra before he was killed.

He added that the security forces went to take in Zebra for inquiry, and he tried to escape through the back door.

“While escaping, Zebra fell into another security forces who tried to stop him but he refused. He tried to fight them and that is why they shot him.”

Museveni’s added that there is “some controversy” in the account of Zebra’s death and vowed to investigate about the killing.

He revealed that Zebra’s wife also narrated to him about his death. “I am very sorry, so sorry about this. I will bring my entire findings to the knowledge of the family. I am very sorry.”
