Head coach Jonathan Mckinstry is expected to try out a couple of things as he prepares his side for the finals where he is grouped alongside Togo, Rwanda and Holders Morocco.

“It is two contrasting preparations. Obviously for us we got the players a week ago but connectivity needs to be worked on,” Mckinstry told FUFA media ahead of Friday’s game.

“We also had the 5 rounds of action which our opponents have not had the league action since March but have played 4-5 buildup matches in the last three weeks.”

Mckinstry will name a strong eleven but the team travelled without KCCA FC players as the club still has a CAF Confederation Cup game on January 6 against AS Kigali.

Pressure On Hosts Cameroon

The Intermediate Lions will seek to create a positive atmosphere going into the CHAN tournament proper, and no better way to do it than to make their statement known in the Pre CHAN mini tournament.

Coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile summoned a 33-man squad but with the domestic league off for close to a year, the side has a huge mountain to climb.

They have played two friendlies in the past days – losing 1-0 to Ranard of Melong and a goalless draw on Tuesday against UMS of Loum in Douala.

PWD Bamenda were crowned league champions for the first time when the league was canceled due to Covid19 and club skipper Derrick Burinyuk, Yankam Besile and Haschou Kerrido and Joel Ondowa will want to translate that performance to national level.

In an interview with mySoccer24, attacking Midfielder Felix Oukine who plays for Cotonsport, said that his target this year is to win the CHAN.
