In-form Police FC will be welcoming back team Captain Tonny Mawejje when they Visit security compatriot UPDF FC on match-day five at Bombo Barracks ground.
Mawejje has missed all the three wins in a row for the cops having last appeared in the opener of his side which was a goalless draw against Wakiso giants.
He missed a 3-1 against MYDA, 5-0 against Kitara FC and the last of 3-0 against Busoga which saw them topping the log where they have been leapfrogged by URA FC who won Yesterday against KCCA FC.
However, the side will still miss a number of players like Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Musa Matovu, Duncan Ssseninde and Johnson Odongo who are still out nursing injuries.
But the tactician Abdullah Mubiru is confident that the available squad will do the needful to fetch a win.
“After Mawejje missing the last three games, we expecting him to start but the rest of the members are still out until probably when the league resumes in February but I have alot of belief and confidence into the guys who going to represent us”
The Cops are expected to rely more on striker Ben Ocen who scored a hat-trick and two braces in the last three games for the Cops.
Despite being aware of his opponent’s recent good performance, Mubiru sounded unmoved and confident that his side is going to out-compete the army though he expects to be a hard encounter.
“We are planning to visit UPDF tomorrow, one of the in form teams, they have been performing well and on top of that its kind kind of army forces, so its not going to be easy especially at their own back but we planning good enough to out compete them”
“Our most worry is the playing field, which is not all that conducive for player to play, its too bumpy but we shall find away of negotiating it and we ask God for his guidance through that game”
Police FC is now second on the log with 10 points from four games and team Captain Mawejje says, the entire team is set and looking forward to retain its most wanted position.
“The all team is set to go in tomorrow’s match we Want to continue in the front seat of the league and we want to maintain our position, and the only thing to keep us there is to win games so we are going in today’s game going in for a win, so that we remain in that number one position” said Mawejje.
“So i call up the fans to support us from wherever they are to send prayers so that we stay there and i assure them that we are going to win the game for them and for the club”
The hosts on the other hand, will be looking forward to getting back to winning ways after suffering their first loss of the season in the hands of Kyetume FC courtesy of Mustafa Mujuzi’s lone strike in the added minutes of their last game at Njeru.
Before the loss, the newcomers had had an impressive start when saw them winning all their opening three games where Busoga, BUL and fellow newcomers Kitara happened to the victims.
The side seats fourth on the log with 9 points out of four games and a win for them will put them on the top where they will spend Christmas and enter a year from until when the league comes back in February.
In the league, both side last met in 2017/2018 season before UPDF getting relegated where Police FC won the first leg 0-1 and UPDF taking the second with 1-2 win.
