Silverbacks Squad Of Local Players Summoned For Afrobasket Qualifiers

Silverbacks squad of local players has been summoned to start early preparations of the second window of the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket Qualifiers.

The squad of 12, consists of the seven players that made the final squad in Egypt earlier this month.

Notably, Sharing Youth’s forward Caesar Kizito has been included after social media outcry.

Innocent Ochera, Peter Obleng, Ivan Muhwezi and Fayed Baale are on the list as well.

About six players, of the summoned 12, will make the final squad which will be beefed up the foreign contingent.

The side will start training on Tuesday, December 15 at MTN Indoor Arena in Lugogo in a non residential camp.

Uganda ended second in Group E after wins over Morocco and Cape Verde in the first window in Alexandria, Egypt.

The second window is scheduled in February 19-21, with the host venue yet to be confirmed by FIBA.

The top three teams after the second window in February will automatically qualify for Afrobasket finals in Kigali Rwanda due August 24 to September 5, 2021.
