Uganda Premier League side Kyetume FC are set to announce a new sponsor ahead of the 2020/21 season kickoff.
The club has entered a partnership with Betting Company Melbet Uganda, The-SportsNation has exclusively learnt.
The deal will be announced this Friday at the Melbet offices in Nakawa, with the Betting company expected to take over shirt sponsorship.
Kyetume joins Express (Betway) and Mbarara City (Top Bet) as the other clubs in UPL sponsored by Betting companies.
The development, is a big boost for Kyetume who have suffered with financial constraints.
The side was recently ordered to pay Ibrahim Kazindula Sh2.7m after going three months without pay while Isaac Kirabira and former assistant coach David Mutono also came out to demand for their arrears.
Kyetume’s origin can be traced way back in the 1970s and are nicknamed as the Slaughters.
Last season, the club marked their debut appearance in top flight and went on to finish 11th with 30 points.
In preparation for the coming 2020/21 season, they have acquired Nicholas Kasozi from KCCA while Ezra Bida, Rashid Muhammad, Henry Orom and Mustafa Mujuzi have reportedly joined the team.
The Mukono-based side will kick start their 2020/21 UPL season with a trip to Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium (Wakissha) to face hosts Wakiso Giants on December 9, 2020.
Kyetume are yet to confirm a home venue after their proposed Nakisunga Ssaza Grounds was ungraded following an inspection by FUFA.
