Four Ugandan distance runners have been added to the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon men’s ﬁeld due November 29, 2020 in India.
The Ugandans who will compete in the 16th edition of this World Athletics Gold Label race include Stephen Kissa, Victor Kiplangat, Mathew Chekwurui and Abel Sikowo.
Kissa and Kiplangat unlike the rest of the teammates look forward to their recent experience in the 2020 World Half Marathon Championships to improve their performances in one of the strongest half marathon contests in the world this season.
Kiplangat travels to Delhi boasting of 16th position finish and Season Best (SB) time of 1:00:29 posted at the recent World Half Marathon while Kissa who crossed in 19th place will be focusing on improving from 1:00:34 ran at the same event.
Both the men’s and women’s races have first prize money of US$27,000, part of a total prize money purse (combined men and women) of US$233,270.
This year’s edition will feature an estimated 60 elite international runners unlike the past edition as organisers follow the highest level of safety standards, with bio-secure zones to ensure a COVID-free race for the runners.
