Uganda Learn Group Opponents For AFCON U17 And U20 Qualifiers

Uganda has learnt her fate at the forthcoming AFCON U17 and U20 Qualifiers after the draws conducted by CECAFA in Arusha, Tanzania on Wednesday.

The AFCON U17 Qualifiers will see Uganda Cubs take on Ethiopia and Kenya in group B.

The Hippos are pitted in group B as well, alongside Burundi, Eritrea and South Sudan.

The top two teams in U17 Qualifiers in Rwanda qualify to represent the Zone at the 2021 U17 AFCON finals in Morocco.

The winner of the U20 tournament in Tanzania will qualify to the U20 2021 AFCON finals which will be held in Mauritania.


  • AFCON U20 Qualifiers: 22nd November – 6th December 2020 in Tanzania
  • AFCON U17 Qualifiers: 13th December – 28th December 2020 in Rwanda

AFCON U-17 Qualifiers Draw:

Group A: Rwanda, Eritrea, South Sudan
Group B: Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya
Group C: Sudan, Djibouti, Tanzania

AFCON U-20 Qualifiers Draw:

Group A: Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, Djibouti
Group B: Burundi, Eritrea, South Sudan, Uganda
Group C: Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan

What You need To Know:

In the Under-17 Qualifiers, the top team in each group and one best runner-up will qualify to the semis.

In the Under-20 qualifiers, three top teams in group A and B, and top two in group C will reach the Quarter finals.
