Young Africans SC is adamant that Bernard Morrison is still contracted with their club despite his transfer to rivals Simba SC.
This, promises to be a long battle off the pitch for the two Tanzania Premier League rivals in quest for the ‘controversial’ Ghanaian player.
League champions Simba, on Saturday, unveiled Morrison, confirming the news with a message ‘Morrison is red‘ on their official pages.
Hours later, Young Africans have denied selling the player to Simba SC, stressing that he is still contracted until 2022.
“The management of the yanga club has seen what is happening on social media and has sparked outrage among football fans in the country,” reads a statement from Young Africans.
“The leadership is closely monitoring the issue and if proven and severe and exemplary action will be taken against all parties involved.
“In addition, the leadership wants members and supporters of Yanga to remain calm as player Bernard Morrison is contracting with our Club until 2022 and the case between him and the Club is still in the hands of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and on Monday continues to be heard.”
Morrison joined Young Africans last year and his tenure has been littered with controversies – The player refused to honour match days as he fell out with then coach Luc Eymael.
Recently, he was arrested by the region’s Police for allegedly possessing drugs!
He has featured for DC Motema Pembe, Ashanti Gold, AS Vita and Orlando Pirates.
