Denis Rukundo Renews Police Contract Amidst Interest From Rwanda

Police FC defender Denis Rukundo has extended his stay with the club despite reported interest to join Rwanda Premier League.

Rukundo has renewed his contract for the next two years, Police FC has confirmed.

“I am glad to renew NY acquaintances with this historic club,” the right back has said. “I am looking forward to putting the team where it belongs.”

Rayon Sports were in advanced talks with the Police FC defender according to New times.

The defender was quoted as saying that Rayon is the club he would love to play for and “hopefully, the talks will culminate into a contract.”

At Rayon, he was expected to fill the void left behind by Eric Iradukunda who joined Rwanda’s Police FC.

Rukundo joined Police FC last season, sealing a move from APR where he played in the 2018-19 season before he was released by the record winners in June last year.

His performance at Police FC last season, where he replaced Paul Willa who joined Vipers, was commendable and the Cops had to keep their man.

He started with Maroons and later joined KCCA FC before signing for APR in September 2017.

He is the third Police player to renew his contract after Yusuf Ssozi and Johnson Odong.

Abdallah Mubiru’s side have also signed Tonny Mawejje, Tom Ikara, Eric Ssenjobe and Hassan Muhamood.
