Tanzania giants Young Africans (Yanga) SC have sacked head coach Luc Eymael after the Belgian made racial remarks recently.
The former AFC Leopards, AS Vita and Rayon Sports gaffer Eymael was appointed the new Young Africans head coach in January this year to replace Boniface Mkwasa.
It is said that Eymael, who was one time linked to coach Uganda Cranes, equated Young Africans to “dogs and monkey.”
“Yanga club leadership is saddened by the unkind remarks of racist rhetoric made by coach Luc Eyamael and spread on social media as well as various media outlets,” reads the document signed by Young Africans Acting General Secretary Simon Patrick Wakili.
“Due to these unethical and athletic statements, the Yanga club management has decided to fire coach Eymael from today 27 July 2020 and ensure he leaves the country as soon as possible.
“The leadership apologizes to the country’s leaders, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), members, and fans of Yanga, as well as the general public for the offensive and insulting statements made by coach Eymael.”
Yanga says that they this is also intended to fight any form of discrimination.
Reports state that Eymael was quoted as saying: “I am disgusted. I don’t have a car, WiFi or DSTV. These fans don’t know anything about football. It’s like monkeys or dogs when they’re shouting.”
Eymael had recently apologised after his remarks – He took to social media and said that “those are not the words of Luc Eymael but of pure frustration and disappointment and emotions that made us lose our second place.”
