Ahmad Proud As CAF Extends Ten-Year Stay In Egypt

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad is “proud” after the African Football governing body extended stay in Egypt for the next ten years.

The CAF Headquarters Agreement which was signed in February, received the approval of the Egyptian House of Representatives at its session on Monday, 8 June 2020 in Cairo.

“Today is a great day for African football. Finally, we have come to the end of a long journey that will shape the future of African football. Egypt has always been home to CAF and we are proud to formalize another extension of the Headquarters Agreement,” CAF President Ahmad is quoted by CAF website.

“Personally, I express my gratitude to the Egyptian Authorities led by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the commitment towards making the agreement a reality.”

The agreement grants diplomatic status to CAF in Egypt.

Under this agreement, CAF shall benefit from several advantages and privileges similar to those granted to international organizations and diplomatic missions.
