UPL Awards: Ssentongo, Kikomeko Named Best Of February

Kyetume FC’s Robert Ssentongo and Busoga United FC’s Abbey Bogere Kikomeko have been named the Pilsner player and coach respectively of the month of February.

The duo were crowned in a brief event on Monday morning at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala.

They both take home Sh1M courtesy of Pilsner.

Busoga United coach Abel Kikomeko Bogere beat SC Villa’s Edward Kaziba to the gong.

“This is a good accolade for me,” said Kikomeko. “I missed one for January but my players told me to remain focus and have helped me a lot to win this one. I thank the management of Busoga United, my coaching staff and fans of the club.”

In the month of February, Busoga United have won four of the five UPL games, with their only loss coming against Bright Stars 3-0.

Veteran forward Ssentongo beat teammate Joel Mutakubwa and Busoga’s David Bagoole to the gong.

He scored six goals, set four assists and grabbed two man of the match accolades. His six goals came against URA, Proline, Onduparaka (2) and Mbarara (2).

Maroons’ Douglas Bamweyana (Coach) and Vipers’ Fahad Bayo were named the best in September.

Vipers’ then coach Edward Golola and BUL striker Robert Mukongotya clinched October honours.

November’s best coach and player were Mike Mutebi (KCCA) and Steven Mukwala (Maroons) respectively.

URA FC duo Sam Ssimbwa (Coach) and Cromwell Rwothomio (Player) were named January’s best.
