Uganda U20 Women Cranes Fall To Tanzania In First Leg

Uganda U20 women team surrendered their lead as Tanzania battled back to win 2-1 in the first leg of the preliminary round of the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers played at National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

Juliet Nalukenge handed Uganda an halftime lead but the Kilimanjaro Queens rallied back courtesy of goals from Diana Msewa and Clement Opa.

Uganda, coached by Olivier Mbekeka, will be hoping to overturn the deficit in the return leg on February 2, 2020 at Lugogo in Kampala.

“We are going to sit down and plan for the next game, we have some days for the to prepare,” said Mbekeka after the loss.

“We conceded through set pieces, and we look forward to rectify our mistakes especially on how to mark through those freekicks and corner.”

Uganda, if they progress past Tanzania, will face winner between Senegal and Sierra Leone at the next round.
