Ugandan Swedish-based winger Ritah Kivumbi early this week joined second tier Mallbackens IF club from Vaxjjo DFF on a six months deal, with an option of extension.
For a player to drop from the Super league to the second tier, it looks like a setback but the forward believes that it’s the right channel to resurrect her career.
“Yes quite a number of people have been asking me this since the news broke but I believe it’s the right decision for me, I reached a point and felt stuck, I was not progressing and I had to set back and restart afresh to reach new heights,” Kivumbi told The-SportsNation.
Having joined the club four years ago, Kivumbi who ply her trade on the team with fellow Ugandan Viola Nambi, had forged a formidable duo and chemistry on the field.

Though she at times started from the bench, Kivumbi always delivered irrespective of the time given.
Commenting about her best friend’s departure from the club, a miserable rather optimistic Nambi reveals how this will be a difficult spell for her;
“She is my best friend and no doubt I will miss her because we have been consoling each other when things don’t move well. But again am happy she has sealed the deal.
“I have some other friends on the team I can always talk to and I wish Kivumbi the best.”
The two are looking forward to serving the national team in case of any call up.
