Beach Soccer: Uganda Sand Cranes Beat Tanzania In Opener

Uganda men Beach soccer team, the Sand Cranes beat hosts Tanzania in penalty shootouts to get off the mark in the 3rd edition of the annual Copa Dar es Salaam Beach soccer Tournament at Coco Beach, Tanzania.

Uganda Sand Cranes won 2-0 in shootouts after normal time had ended 3-3.

Buganda To Introduce Beach Soccer League

Lule Paul scored in his own net to give Tanzania a lead but David Kasujja and Lwesibawa Godfrey took over to give Uganda a 2-1 lead.

Jaruph Juma and Stephano Wales scored for Tanzania before Lule Paul levelled matters to leave the score 3-3.

Lwesibawa and Rico Byaruhanga scored their penalties while Ronald Magwali fired his penalty off the target.

Meddie Kibirige, Uganda’s goalkeeper, kept out Abdulkadir Ally Taibi’s effort penalty as Juma Sultan Ibrahim shot wide.

“I thank God for enabling us to get a point but in general it has been a hard game being the fact that we have been playing with hosts but we have managed to get a point and we are hoping to do our best in next game” Sand crane captain Meddie Kibirige after the game
