UPL: Mbarara Held On Homecoming

*Mbarara City 0-0 Bright Stars

Bright Stars snatched a point on Mbarara’s homecoming as both sides played out a goalless draw on Wednesday in the StarTimes UPL.

Mbarara, playing at Kakyeka Stadium for the first time this seasam, hoped for nothing but victory – However, the visitors proved a hard nut to crack.

Bebe Swalik headed wide in the 16th minute before Godwin Buule kept out Brian Aheebwa’s shot.

Solomon Okwalinga also came close for the Ankole Lions but shot just an inch wide and the introduction of Ivan Eyam, Pistis Barenge and Kabuye did not save the situation as both sides settled for a stalemate.

The result piles more pressure on new Mbarara coach Paul Nkata whose side, that finished fifth last season, now occupy just a place above the drop zone – 13th with 10 points.

Mbarara has not won a single game in their last five attempts while the draw is the seventh for Bright Stars who are 14th with 10 points.

Mbarara visit BUL FC before hosting Onduparaka and Kyetume while Bright Stars will host SC Villa.
