*KCCA FC Vs Paradou – 4PM
Playmaker Muzamir Mutyaba makes a timely return from a lay off as KCCA FC play host to Algerian outfit Paradou FC in the first leg of 2nd Preliminary round of CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday at Startimes Stadium Lugogo.
Muzamir got injured in the club’s CAF Champions League qualifier against Petro De Luanda and has not played competitive football since.
Left back Eric Ssenjobe is back as well and has been included on squad to play on Sunday while the match might have come early for Julius Poloto, Jurua Hassan, and Sadam Juma.
The trio of John Odumegwu, John Revita, Keziron Kizito, and Erisa Sekisambu is ineligible.
KCCA saw themselves drop to CAF Confederation after failing to progress to the group stages of CAF Champions league when they were knocked out on last preliminary round by Angolan outfit Petro de Luanda on away goals rule after 1-1 aggregate draw.
“Having dropped out from Champions league, we are going to try to pullout all what we have to see that we negotiate this tie and go to the group stages and we have the capacity to do it and we have to win,” said Coach Mutebi at Lugogo during the pre-match conference on Friday.
“They have experience, they play very well on the counter attacks, manage the ball so well but my boys too have enough experience having played more games on the continent despite being young, so we are ready to deal with that challenge, meaning we must match them in as far as using the ball is concerned.”
They will also bank on the performance of Allan Okello and Kizza Mustafa as the only two remaining players who have managed to score in the continent competition this season after the departure of Patrick Kaddu.
On the other hand, Paradou who are new comers in CAF football will be a hard nut to crack but KCCA are expected to benefit from their home advantage.
This will be the third time KCCA FC plays at this round in the CAF Confederation Cup. The previous two times saw the club pick home wins against Al Masry (1-0) and AS Otoho (2-0).
Paradou knocked out three time record champions CS Sfaxien of Tunisia 3-1 on aggregate to reach this stage after eliminating CI KAMSAR of Guinea by 3-1 on aggregate in the first round.
However, they are yet to score a goal in all of the two continental games played away from their home this season having lost 1-0 against CI Kamsar in Guinea and a goalless draw in Tunisia against Sfaxien, which could be a turning point for the hosts.
Paradou who are not doing well in Algeria Topflight league, will rely on Yousir Bouzok and Abdelkadir Ghorab who are their leading goal scorers in the tournament so far.
Hamza Mouali one of the goal scores against Sfaxien will also be key in defense not forgetting the young midfilder Hichman Boudoaui the only local based player in the Algerian Squad that won the famous African cup of nation in July this year.
The second leg will be played on November 3rd in Algeria where the winner on aggregate will reach the group stages.
