*Vipers 2-1 BUL FC
Vipers managed to negotiate past BUL FC to win 2-1 in a StarTimes UPL rescheduled fixture at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Frank Zaga Tumwesigye and Allan Kayiwa scored for Vipers while Deogracious Ojok pulled one back for the resolute visitors in a closely contested affair.
The victory takes Vipers on top of the log with 20 points, leapfrogging BUL who remain second with 17 points.
Zaga, probably the shortest player on the pitch, headed in from Bobosi Byaruhanga’s corner at near post to put Vipers in the lead in the 20th minute.
Allan Kayiwa doubled the advantage from a well taken free-kick after Fahad Bayo was tripped at the box edge.
Ojok halved the deficit in the 28th minute with a diving header after a low delivery from James Otim at the right flank.
Ojok could have leveled matters at restart but was denied by Fabien Mutombora at close range.
Vipers will be happy with the result but their performance on the pitch continues to be lacking. Pressure is now off Kayiwa and Zaga who opened their accounts for the first time this season while the return of Geoffrey Wasswa from a long layoff is another big positive.
