Police Vs Vipers: Venoms Out To Rub More Salt In Cops’ Wounds

*Police Vs Vipers – Lugogo (4:30PM
*Mbarara Vs Maroons – Luzira (4:30PM)
*SC Villa Vs Wakiso Giants – Namboole (8PM)

Vipers will look to inflict more damage against struggling Police FC when the two sides meet on match-day eight of the 2019/20 StarTimes UPL at Lugogo.

Police FC are temporarily hosting at Lugogo, their home last season, after the supposed Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium was reported to be unavailable.

The Venoms are targeting to put more points on board given the fact that their title rival KCCA FC have not won a game in their last three games.

Vipers, on 11 points from five games, are yet to lose a game – They drew against Villa and Mbarara but beat Bright Stars, Tooro United and Proline.

They have not been convincing but the fact that they have managed to pick points even on their worst outings, makes them outright favourites.

Last season, Dan Sserunkuma came off the bench to score a late lone goal as Vipers won 1-0 in Kitende before Sserunkuma and Rahmat Ssenfuka scored one each to win 2-1 and complete a double. Basani Safi scored at Lugogo for the Peace Keepers.

“I think they will try to push us for results but we have to start well with aggressiveness and determination,” noted Vipers coach Edward Golola as quoted by Vipers website.

“We are not looking at what our opponents are not doing, instead we are fighting to improve ourselves with each game, and its important.”

Innocent Wafula needs late fitness test, Rahmat Senfuka returns to the squad after being rested for the previous match while Rashid Toha and Shaban Mohammed are still sidelined.

Police FC Seek To Bounce Back

Police FC, just like URA and Onduparaka, were everyone’s favourite to push KCCA and Vipers this season. However, Abdallah Mubiru’s team is languishing at the root.

Childish mistakes cost the team at least a point against Express which they lost 3-5 at Wankulukuku.

“We have tried to correct some mistakes we committed against Express in the last game we played which cost us and we don’t hope to continue with the same mistakes,” commented Mubiru.

“The spirit is high and everyone want to prove a point, hope we get a good game.”

Hood Kaweesa Ruben Kimera, Ben Ocen are expected to provide shape going forward for Police FC.

Assistant Captain Davis Mutebi is still sidelined but goalkeeper Jomi Hilary is likely to return but on loan Centre back Henry Katongole will sit out of the game as he can’t play against his parent club.
