Former SC Villa Captain Steven Bengo is expected to announce his retirement, The-SportsNation.com sources have learnt.
The former Uganda Cranes midfielder will speak to the press on Thursday in a briefing at Tavern Woods, Kabuusu.
Bengo, regarded as the golden boy of Ugandan football is an academy graduate of the defunct Jogoo Young. His passing, shooting and creativity was the biggest ingredients in his career.
He was the captain of SC Villa and has also played for Young Africans (Tanzania), Soana (now Tooro United), URA FC, KCCA FC, Express FC and Wakiso Giants.
He won the Kakungulu Cup (now Stanbic Uganda Cup) with SC Villa in 2009 and 2015.
He won the league in 2013/2014 with KCCA FC.
With the Cranes, he won the 2008 and 2009 CECAFA Challenge Cup – He bagged three goals in the 2008 edition where Uganda won on home soil.
Currently, he has been with Wakiso Giants as part of the coaching staff. Earlier reports claimed that he was recommended by Doctors to hang his boots after he was found with a heart complication.
